Not a very well written book. Needed to be proof-read. Two many typo/grammatical errors. Needs to show more versions of songs.
So, I would have to say that this book is good for an introduction to sea shanties and how they were being used, some good background work to be sure. But I am not familiar enough with sea shanties to say anymore than that, there are plenty of songs and lyrics to them. However, I believe from the sea shanties that I have heard while working aboard a tallship, that some are lacking verses.
love the book, wish I had had it years ago.
These books will keep me playing for a long time!
I love shanties and "pirate" music. This is a good compilation.
